Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Favorite Fictional Couples in Books

EXCELLENT TOPIC! Let's see...

1. Harry Potter and Hermione Granger... Okay, so this is only the way I would have written the book, but oh well... I just feel that Ron is too silly for Hermione.  Moving on.

2. Noah and Allie from The Notebook.  I recently reread this, and it's much better now that I am not twelve.  I suggest giving it a reread or a first read.  Noah is so strong and kind of the epitome of a good Southern man, and Allie is so passionate and headstrong.  I love it.

3. Henry and Clare from The Time Traveler's Wife.  You might notice that I <3 Rachel McAdams, haha.  I really did love these books better than the movies though.  I wouldn't even watch the last 30 minutes of this movie- I mailed it back to Netflix.  I love how committed Henry and Clare are even with all of their struggles.  Could you love a person who disappeared randomly for who knows how long?  I can't imagine the uncertainty she lived and loved with.

4. Cathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights.  **Spoilers** (in case you actually care)  She dies of passion and he climbs in her grave to die as well.  He also gouges his head by hitting it against a tree.  This is definitely true love.  (I really do love both of them, despite the sarcasm).

5.  Angel and Michael Hosea from Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  Basically, this book is a retelling of the book of Hosea from the Bible.  Angel is a prostitute during the California Gold Rush, and Michael is a steadfast man told by God to marry her.  In true romantic fashion, he doesn't force her to love him, instead, he treats her with love while she recovers from the abuse she has suffered.  This book is captivating- full of drama and emotion, and kind of scary.  There is a really nefarious pimp guy who I'm pretty much still terrified of.  Anyways, give this book a read even if you have no interest in the book of Hosea.  It is excellent.

6.  Alanna and George from The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce.  George is a smokin' hot thief and Alanna is training to be a Lady Knight.  George actually has some of my favorite lines ever, which I do not have access to now, but I reread the whole series regularly because I love George so much.

7.  Bella and Edward.  Just saying.  Breaking Dawn was one of the most fun books that I have ever read.

8.  Mia and Michael from The Princess Diaries.  I actually bought the Rooney CD  (MM from the movie's band) and I listen to it and pretend its MM singing.  He's so... manly.  I guess.  I think he just smells really, really good.

9.  Eragon and that Elf Girl.  She could totally kill him, and I think that's hot.

10.  Hadassah and Marcus from The Mark of the Lion Trilogy.  Another Francine Rivers gem.  This series takes place very early AD, and the love between these two is unlike anything else that I have read.

Off to work now!

  4. Your number 2 and 6 made my list as well! I love George, he is so amazing.
I really didn't like Wuthering Heights, I thought everyone cared only for themselves and I couldn't find real love anywhere.

  5. Hey, no worries on the Edward and Bella thing! They are on my top ten too! I've seen Henry and Ginny around a lot but I'm happy to see Noah & Allie and Henry & Clare made your list!

  6. I was trying to think about the girl in Eragon, too, but couldn't remember her name. I should have put in Henry and Clare from the Time Traveler's Wife, like you did. Check out my lists (two for the price of one) at:

  7. Glad to see someone else supports Harry/Hermione! I always thought Ron was a wuss and that Hermione deserved to be with someone less wimpy (and also a little smarter...it's not like Ron's huge on brains either).

Also yes to Alanna and George - they make a cute couple and George has such a laidback temperament that he balances Alanna really nicely.
