Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books!
This week's question:  What is the one ARC you would love to get your hands on right now?

EASY:
I would LOVE to read and review this book,
just like so many other bloggers...
I know I'll get it when it comes out in a few weeks,
but for right now, I'm majorly jonesing for it.

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read!

Q: What is the one book that most changed or influenced your life?

I read this back in high school,
and I learned so much about life and love from it.
The characters are rich, their struggles are genuine,
and through the heartache, hope never leaves them.

Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books!

This week's question: "Highlight one book that you have received this week (for review, from the library, purchased at the store, etc.) that you can't wait to get into!"

I don't have it in hand yet, but I have Witches of East End, a new series by Melissa de la Cruz, on hold at the library!  I'm going to pick it up today, and I can't wait to read it.  The cover is really beautiful, and I've really enjoyed the Blue Bloods series so far.

Question: What t-shirt slogan best describes you?

Sometimes I tell random people bits of science info
that I find applicable to the situation.
I also find that people believe me when I give medical advice...

Book Blogger Hop (16) and Follow Friday (5)

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books!

What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book, and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Great question!  I love when the book begins with a little mystery, but it's not so vague that you have to keep flipping around, wondering if you missed something.  I also like hot characters and the promise of something interesting to follow.  I'll give up on a book if the first chapter is boring or if the writing is too abrasive.  I have to admit, I almost gave up on City of Bones because I don't think the first chapter is strong.

Q. ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

Another great question this week.  I love Mia Thermopolis from the Princess Diaries played by Anne Hathaway.  Although Anne is very different from how Mia's appearance is described in the book, she plays the personality off well.  I'd be so psyched to meet her- stay tuned for more on my love for all things Meg Cabot!

This week's question: How many books are currently in your TBR pile?

On Goodreads, I have 392 books on my TBR list.  My physical TBR pile has about 22 books in it.  Yikes!

Q. Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

I don't think I can pick a favorite genre- I read all over the place, but mostly YA.  I love books about makeovers, difficult guys/men, pure adventure, and urban fantasy.  I like dystopian books because they usually propose such interesting situations.

If you stop by as a visitor, be sure to leave a comment so I can return the visit!

Book Blogger Hop (14) and Follow Friday (3)

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books!  Well, usually.
This week it is hosted by Lori's Reading Corner.
This week's question:
Who is the one author that you are dying to meet?

This is a tough question- I have a lot of fav authors, however, the one I would like to meet most is Ann M. Martin, the author of The Baby-Sitters Club.  The BSC is my all time favorite series- I actually own every book (not the Little Sister ones, though).  This is one of my semi-awkward literary secrets, so now you know!

Q. The magic book fairy pops out of your cereal box and says "you and your favorite character (from a book of course) can switch places!" Who are you going to switch with?

O.o  Who would I switch with?  Well, what about Hermione, Clary, or Rose?  Wait, those are all taken? I have to choose someone else?  Oh, okay... um... *checks Goodreads*  BRIDGET JONES, but only if Mark Darcy is around.  I'd love to try being British and silly.

"If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"

Hands down, HOGWARTS!  I wonder how many other people picked Hogwarts as well, haha.  Seriously.  One of the deciding factors in my college selection was that if you sort of squint my school reminded me of Hogwarts... the grounds at least.  I love the characters, the wizarding universe, and the beautiful castle.  I'd love to fly on a broomstick, drink butter beer, and try my hand at potions.  Harry Potter is all about science, and man, the thought of being in that world makes me crazy!

Q. It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...

1.  I can put ChapStick on with my feet.
2.  I have eaten a cicada- cooked with bean dip!
3.  I have also eaten fried squirrel.
4.  I was in the National Spelling Bee in 2002.
5.  I'm terrified of other people's food touching me.

LOL Now you know what a nut I am.  :D  Happy Friday!
